Recently, I had the honour of being invited onto SmallCapAsia’s YouTube channel for a fireside chat, where I had the opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences on a wide range of investing-related topics, including:
- What a typical day looks like for me as a full-time retail investor and trader (spoiler: it’s actually quite boring!). For those who think doing this full-time is relaxing, it’s anything but – at least for me!
- How I first came to understand the principles of trading and investing, some of the challenges I encountered along the way, and what eventually led me to pursue investing and trading full-time.
- Why ‘The Intelligent Investor’ by Benjamin Graham wasn’t the first book I picked up when learning about investing, despite it often being recommended as one of the must-read books for beginners.
- Some of the mistakes I’ve made (along with lessons learned) when I first started out in the stock market – and, in case you’re wondering, I made many of the same mistakes that new investors and traders commonly make. I was certainly no exception!
- What inspired me to start ‘The Singaporean Investor’, along with the objective I set out to achieve when I first started the blog – one that has remained unchanged all these years.
- My observations on how the Singapore stock market has evolved since I first started learning about it back in 2017.
- My personal views on how the market could move in the second half of 2026, covering both small- and mid-cap companies, as well as the larger blue-chip names.
- Some of the key financial and portfolio metrics I pay particular attention to when assessing REITs, and why I believe they matter.
- With the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s S$6.5 billion Equity Market Development Programme (EQDP), whether I see opportunities emerging beyond the blue chips in the small- and mid-cap space, as well as what would make me take a closer look at these companies.
- Finally, the one piece of advice I would give fellow investors navigating today’s market — particularly newer investors who may be tempted to chase stocks simply because their share prices are moving up rapidly.

Stop Spending Hours Reading REIT Reports Every Quarter!
What if you could assess a REIT's portfolio occupancy, debt profile, valuation, and overall health in less than 30 seconds - without having to comb through a single quarterly report?
That's the problem the REIT Screener was built to solve.
Developed through a collaboration between ShareInvestor and The Singaporean Investor, the REIT Screener consolidates many of the key metrics and indicators I personally use when analysing REITs into one easy-to-use platform. Instead of spending hours extracting data manually every earnings season, you can now monitor the REITs you own and research new opportunities in just a few clicks.
If you're serious about REIT investing but don't have the time to manually track quarterly developments, the REIT Screener could be the shortcut you've been looking for:
