Yesterday (17 December), I had the honour of sharing my humble 2-cents worth about REITs in an online event organised by AlphaInvest (many thanks to Shanison and Nigel for the invite, and also to Jack and Ivan for the assist!)

During my 30+ minute presentation, I shared about the following topics:

  • Reflecting on the Last 5 Years for REITs: A brief overview of the challenging period REITs faced, followed by a look at how the sector has recovered and transformed in recent times.
  • Tailwinds and Headwinds for 2026: An exploration of the 4 key tailwinds propelling the REIT sector forward, alongside the challenges it may face in the year 2026.
  • Key Metrics for Investment Decisions: A breakdown of the essential metrics I use to assess whether a REIT makes it onto my ‘investment watchlist’ and eventually becomes part of my portfolio.
  • Case Studies on SGX-Listed REITs and Business Trusts: An analysis of 4 prominent REITs and business trusts listed on the Singapore Exchange (CapitaLand India Trust, Mapletree Industrial Trust, Mapletree Logistics Trust, and Frasers Centrepoint Trust), addressing common investor concerns.
  • Distribution Trends and Unit Price Movements: A post series I launched in June and concluded in mid-December, where I analysed the distribution payout trends and unit price fluctuations of REITs and business trusts over the past 5 years.

Additionally, during the Q&A session, I addressed pressing questions on topics such as Keppel REIT’s recent DPU-dilutive acquisition of an additional one-third stake in MBFC Tower 3, whether NTT DC REIT’s current unit price presents a good investment opportunity, and more.

For those of you who have missed out on the session, or would like to re-watch it, you can check it out below (if you like a copy of the slides, you can download it here):

As it is the first time I’m presenting live on Zoom, I was struggling with the controls, and I understand in the comments section that I was a little bit too fast in my presentation – I’d like to offer my most sincere apologies. I will strive to do a better job in the future.

If you have any questions for me on any of the topics I’ve discussed during the session, or you have any feedback/suggestion for me, you can drop me a message here.

Last but not least, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas in advance!

I'm honoured to be re-invited by Dinah Poehlmann from Your Finance Mind for a fireside chat on Zoom this year, where I'll be sharing my insights on this topic.

Join me on Thursday, 19 March 2026, from 8pm to 9pm, as I offer my thoughts and answer any questions you may have.

Are You Worried about Not Having Enough Money for Retirement?

You're not alone. According to the OCBC Financial Wellness Index, only 62% of people in their 20s and 56% of people in their 30s are confident that they will have enough money to retire.

But there is still time to take action. One way to ensure that you have a comfortable retirement is to invest in real estate investment trusts (REITs).

In 'Building Your REIT-irement Portfolio' which I've authored, you will learn everything you need to know to build a successful REIT investment portfolio, including a list of 9 things to look at to determine whether a REIT is worthy of your investment, 1 simple method to help you maximise your returns from your REIT investment, 4 signs of 'red flags' to look out for and what you can do as a shareholder, and more!
