Possible Near-Term Unit Price Movements of Singapore REITs with Retail Malls in its Portfolio
Footfall to the retail malls (especially those located in the CBD area) have taken a beating as a result of the Singapore government’s implementation of the Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) measures to bring down the number of community cases. As a result, Singapore-listed REITs with retail malls in its portfolio are negatively impacted. However, at the time of writing, with the number of daily community cases down to single-digits once again, it is likely that some of the safe distancing restrictions may be relaxed from next Monday, 14 June 2021, and this could benefit the retail malls (and hence the REITs’ unit prices could go up as a result.)
